Garden Bites

Though I live on Kodiak Island in Alaska—a temperate rainforest where brown bears have been known to amble through carrot beds—I would never pretend to know everything there is to know about gardening where you live.

How would I know how to grow bananas in Costa Rica?

Duh!

Or rhubarb in a windy New Zealand valley?

But gardeners everywhere face the same basic challenges. We all pull weeds, check for bugs, and feel a quiet thrill when the first green shoot pokes through the soil. Whether you're planting red potatoes in a backyard bed or tending basil on a kitchen windowsill, these are all ways to slow down, pay attention, and feel more in tune with the world around us.

What you'll find here, is a growing (pun intended) collection of selected tips, videos, and ideas to inspire and support gardeners around the world. Some are totally off-topic, but you’ll also find trusted resources I personally recommend—everything from books and shampoo to vegan recipes and high tunnel greenhouses.

I hope you’ll find something helpful here to grow with more confidence, ease, and joy, wherever you plant your roots. This is just a starter list, and I’ll keep adding to it over time.

Meanwhile, every gardener has a story. You, too. Just sayin'.

If you have a tip, question, or just want to say hello, don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to hear from you.

Keep your hands in the dirt and your eyes on the stars!

Cheers,
